In Australia, the insurance sector has seen a significant shift in its investment strategies, particularly in the wake of stabilising inflation. Australian insurers are now more willing to take on investment risks, moving towards higher-yield assets like private equity and private credit. The need to increase returns in a situation where traditional fixed-income investments are providing declining yields is what is causing this change.

According to a BlackRock survey, almost half of insurers worldwide intend to raise their exposure to portfolio risk over the next two years.
